  10.        This chapter describes the known problems with the current
  11.        release of the product(s) and how to work around them.

  14.        5.1  _O_n_l_i_n_e__B_o_o_k_s__(_I_R_I_S__I_n_S_i_g_h_t_)__L_i_b_r_a_r_y

  16.           +o It is important to note that as of release 5.0 (shipped
  17.             with IRIX 6.5.17), the tools and processes available in
  18.             the InSight product family can no longer read the older
  19.             format of the books (pre-IRIX 6.5.17). Many of the
  20.             tools (_i_n_s_i_g_h_t_A_d_m_i_n, _s_g_i_h_e_l_p, _i_n_f_o_s_e_a_r_c_h) will produce
  21.             a warning that identifies these "older" books and
  22.             indicates that they need to be updated or converted.
  23.             The _i_n_s_i_g_h_t_A_d_m_i_n command can perform this conversion
  24.             for you. Detailed information on converting "older"
  25.             books to the newer format is detailed in "Chapter 2 -
  26.             Converting Older Format Books", found in these release
  27.             notes.

  30.        5.2  _I_R_I_S__I_n_S_i_g_h_t__V_i_e_w_e_r

  32.           +o As of release 5.0 (shipped with IRIX 6.5.17), the IRIS
  33.             InSight Viewer and the Dynaweb product (dynaweb.sw.eoe)
  34.             are no longer required and have been discontinued.  The
  35.             "insight" application exists solely as a process that
  36.             launches InfoSearch.

  99.           +o If the on-line books are being mounted from another
  100.             source, and are not installed locally, the directory
  101.             /usr/share/help should also be mounted (or copied) from
  102.             the same source. This directory contains application
  103.             helpmap files which aid SGIHelp in determining what
  104.             information to display for a given help request.

  106.           +o When mounting IRIS InSight books, be aware that SGIHelp
  107.             looks for books under two specific locations. One is
  108.             the default /usr/share/Insight/library/SGI_bookshelves,
  109.             which should contain the English version of all
  110.             available books. The other is the international setting
  111.             of /usr/share/Insight/library/<locale>_bookshelves,
  112.             where <locale> is the value of the LANG environment
  113.             setting. In the case where LANG is set, SGIHelp will
  114.             look first under the <locale>_bookshelves area, and if
  115.             the requested localized help information is not found,
  116.             it will fall back to the default (SGI_bookshelves) and
  117.             examine the English books.

  119.           +o The SGIHelp process itself will tell the user if
  120.             content is unavailable.  Upon receiving a request, it
  121.             will start up (if not already running), and display the
  122.             message:

  140.             Re-mounting the file system off the CD-ROM (or server)
  141.             from which you were accessing content and making
  142.             another help request from an application should remedy
  143.             this. The alternative is to install the applicable IRIS
  144.             Insight books on your hard disk.

  152.             some time to load, especially in the case of a large

  158.             viewer window will correct this.
